Telesat expands operations with new facility in Detroit area
Michigan facility is part of expansion that will recruit 600+ contractors
MACOMB, MICHIGAN, October 20, 2003 - Telesat, one of the world’s most experienced satellite companies, announced today that it has opened a new facility in Macomb, Michigan, about 23 miles north of Detroit, to meet the growing demand for its satellite services all over North America.
“The opening of the new Michigan facility demonstrates Telesat’s commitment to its growing list of customers across America,” said Pat Enright, Telesat’s vice president of network services. “At Telesat, we’re tailoring our infrastructure and are recruiting and will train and manage over 600 field service representatives dedicated strictly to our US operations. The closer we are to our customers, the better.”
Telesat provides service to over 22,000 North American locations, 14,000 of which are in the U.S. The 12,000-square-foot Macomb facility is close to Telesat’s central operations and its major U.S. customers, making it an ideal location from which to serve all of North America, including Hawaii, Alaska and the Caribbean.
“Telesat’s extensive network of field service representatives is particularly suited to enterprise businesses in the automotive, retail and lottery sectors,” said Dave Lahey, vice president of business development at Telesat. “As a full-service satellite systems provider, Telesat is a one-stop-shop for businesses - and the demand for our expertise is growing across North America.”
